End

I will be starting a new blog tomorrow, so I will not post today.
So long for now!!

Fun day. Ish.

Well, I woke up today earlier than I wanted. Or needed. It took me a while to finally go back to sleep, and it was only for maybe an hour. Then I had to get ready for choir practice for church tomorrow. It went pretty well, but one of the guys, who is the drum major at Mayfield, asked for the drum major at Centennial's number so he could contact her. I didn't have it, but resolved to get it.
When that was done, our sister took us to the new Dunkin' Donuts that just opened here. Here are a few pics.
They were awesome. Not Pro's Ranch good, but still.
We got back home, and my mom started getting ready for one of her cousin's daughter's wedding. We helped her pick out a dress and jewelry.
After that, our brother took us to go play some tennis. Well, not really, since we are just beginners. We taught Ari what we learned, and tried to work on our serves. After about an hour, our other brother and his daughter came with food and drinks. We left shortly after that, and Rene took us to go get custard from Caliches, but I got a hot dog.
We came home and watched some tv. After a while, we decided to watch Tangled, my favorite movie. Ari made some Ramen noodles, and my niece ate some. However, she dropped some on her dad. It was in a really awkward place, too. It wasn't that bad, but still.
We finished watching the movie, and I still haven't done my exercises.
So long for now!!

Dirty

Today I woke up at 8 so I could get ready for orchestra. I was really tired, but I didn't want to miss the last day. Our brother told me that he would be taking us to camp. Since my mom didn't have to, she made us some awesome pancakes. It felt like Sunday to me, especially because last week's comics was on the table.
We got to camp earlier than usual, so we got there with all the others and even before our teacher, though only by a little. We started with tuning. Mr. Rivera had us un-tune our A strings, and then try to tune it back again. I was always a little flat, so I will need to work on that. After we got that string, we worked on the others. I wish more of our orchestra had gone to this camp. The orchestra on a whole would really benefit from the tuning exercises we have learned.
Next, Mr. Rivera had us practice the c melodic minor one octave scale because we will need to play a three octave scale for the All-State auditions. He had us play the first note of the scale and then sing it. We did the same for all the notes in the scale until we could sing it in tune. We got pretty good. Not choir good, but still. After that, Mr. Rivera had one student play out of tune with the rest of us for the scale, so that we could see how one person can effect the whole orchestra.
When we finished with that, we worked on rhythms. We focused I cut time and mixed meters. It was relatively easy, but the two stuck-up kids had to question it. Mr. Rivera spent 20 minutes trying to explain it to them. The explanation should have only taken 5 minutes at the most, but they are so stubborn and thick-headed that they could not accept the explanation. We had a break after that, and when we got back, we sight-read a piece that was in 5/4 time, so that the two could understand. After that, we finished off the camp with Farandole!! I was very happy about that. It sounded pretty good. I love playing that piece. I fell in love with it when I first heard Trans-Siberian Orchestra play it. It was amazing. I hope we can play it next year.
When camp finished, we came home and then started moving the remaining things in our room to one corner of the room. After that, we started taking out the carpet. We completely peeled off all of the carpet and took out the nails. When it was all taken out, we swept all of the dirt that was under the carpet, and there was a lot. There was about 15 year' worth of dirt under there. It's strange to think that I am older than the house I have lived in for almost my entire life. Anyways, after that, Ari and I put the wood in there so that way it could swell if it need to based on the humidity in that room. Here are some pictures.
Ari and I are going to be super buff! Just kidding, but I do have to do some exercises for my back. Here is an example.
I have to do a lot of similar exercises as well as core exercises. I hope I will get abs!
So now I am just waiting for my other brother, Rene, to get here with my niece, Amiyah.
So long for now!

Busy

So today was a very busy day. Well, not really, but it felt like it.
I got up needing more sleep, but that wasn't an option. I had to get ready for orchestra camp and there was no way I was missing it. We left a little late, but we weren't the last ones there again. When we got to camp, our teacher had us tune our A strings and then the D string. I was only a little flat on my strings, and I was proud of that. He then let us try to tune the other strings. I got pretty close. When we were done with that, we worked on the three octave scales we need to do for All-State. Since we did the major scale yesterday, we worked on the melodic minor today. It was a little challenging, but I played it pretty well considering I had never even looked at it before today. When we finished with that, we did some more rhythms.  Today focused more on eighth and sixtieth notes, whereas yesterday was more on triplets. When we were able to get through most of the section of rhythms, we worked on another piece. I played first part, and I lived it.  It was really fun to play, and sounded very pretty.
When camp was finished, our sister picked us up and took us to the library for a workshop for zucchini and all the different ways you can cook with it. I am not a big fan of zucchini, but the crisp thing was good. After that, we ate lunch and a Mexican restaurant. We had to go to Walmart after that to go get stuff for the workshop Ari and I had to do for 4-H. When we got home, had to hurry to get our things together for the workshop. We had planned on doing the peanut butter and jelly sandwich "challenge" for the activity, and then showing our YMCA Alice video to show how specific you may need to get with instructions. I had some interesting sandwiches to make. There was only one guy who actually made a correct sandwich, but I found out later that he had cheated. I didn't tell him that I knew, but it still made me upset. I wish I could have told him, but he was tall and intimidating.  There were a lot more activities that I don't want to talk about because it is late, but I will tell you that it was long and tiring.
So long for now!!

Ache

Today I had to wake up for my physical therapy. I woke up at 6 in the morning and we left at about 7:45. When we got there, we had to wait a few minutes for my PT. I got on the bike and biked 3.2 miles. I was so happy when I made it to my old distance. I was sore, though. When that was done, she taught me some new exercises instead of having me stretch first because she wanted to use a specific table that was in use at the time. All of the stretches were meant to strengthen my back and shoulders. I'm going to have a buff back by the end of this.
After she showed me those ones, she had me do the other stretches and exercises she gave me. I was sore after we finished. My forearms hurt the most because of tennis practice. I am going to have huge arms what with the exercises and the tennis. I just hope I am proportional.
When that was done, we left. We went home to get Ari and our violins. I ate a little more and then we left for orchestra camp. We got there a little late, but we weren't the last ones, thankfully. We worked on some more rhythms, and then he had us play our solos that we need to play for All-State. I haven't even really looked at the piece he gave us and so I didn't volunteer to play. I decided to work on it when I got home. We also worked on Farandole and got all the way to the end. I was proud that I could do it but the others kept messing up. I was not happy because I like seeing people fail, but because the two others are stuck-up and think they are better than anyone else.
During this all, I really had to go to the restroom because of all the water I drank at the PT. The only problem was that these two guys were in the bathrooms, working on them. I finally went after they had left, but I felt bad because they were all clean. Oh, and I am really upset because there is someone who is breaking the water fountains in the music building and turning the nozzle the other way, as to wet people who try to drink from it. I know the kid who is turning the nozzles, but I don't know if be is breaking them. I don't really like him, so if it is him, my dislike will grow.
So after this, we wen to eat with my sister Karim. It was nice, but I was very tired by the end of it. We came home and I took a three hour long nap. It was nice, but not enough for me.
When I woke up, we had to go to tennis. We went a little early and just sat in the car. When he got there, all the rest of us were already waiting. We started off with some stretches and then played a game of doubles. The winning team kept playing unless a challenger beat them. After a lot of round of that, we played a new game. There was only one ball in play, so we had to clear the court of any stragglers.  We divided into two teams and went on opposite sides of the court. The goal was to keep the ball in play, meaning that the ball is bouncing at least a little. Every member on the team had to hit the ball with their racquet before the ball could be hit to the other side. The tennis court is enclosed in a fence, so we had all of the area inside of the fence to play in, not just the actual court. Each member could hit the ball only twice in a row, and three times total. After that, it was a dead ball. We played quite a few rounds of that before we left. I am so sore right now. I hope I can get up tomorrow. Anywho, after tennis, Noel and I went to Sonic to get some food. We went home, and Ari and I practiced our solos after we ate. We are good enough to present, but not the best that we should be. I could make a lot of excuses, but I won't. We haven't been practicing because we, or at least me, are too lazy. Oh well. I will practice more now that I know we have to be great by September.
What to talk about.......hmmmmmmm.... I don't know. Oh well.
So long for now!!

Weird

Today started off weird. I had to wake up at the same time as for camp, but I'm not going to camp. At least not YWiC camp. Today I go to orchestra camp. Before we even left the house, I became stressed. Not for camp, but because Ari almost threw up. I don't know why, but she didn't and the feeling went away. Still. It freaked me out and my anxiety went sky high.
After that episode, we went to the orchestra camp. We got there about on time, and thankfully the doors were open. There were only 7 people at the camp including us. It was sad. We had four violins, a viola, a cello and a bass. It was disappointing. Still, we practiced. We started with tuning. We were all rising sophomores, and don't know how to tune on our own. Today, our teacher started to teach us how to tune our own instruments. We started with the A string. Then we double stopped the A and D string. We got pretty good at it. I was really mad that only the seven of us showed up. All of the orchestra should have been there to learn. Oh well. We will be the awesome kids in the orchestra.
We had a five minute break between learning rhythms and bow markings.
When we got back, we sight-read Farandole. I love this piece. I fell in love with it when I heard the Trans-Siberian Orchestra play it live when the came here a few years back. I got to play first violin, so I was happy. I even showed up this stuck-up kid whom I hate! I played it better, and made fewer mistakes.
When camp was over, we went home and started working in our new room. It is starting to come together. We are almost done emptying it out so that we can take out the carpet and put in the wood. Before we do that, though, we have to finish painting the ceiling. We went to Walmart so we could go get the paint we need to paint the ceiling. It took a while because they couldn't get the right color with the machine. In the meantime, Ari and I found these huge marshmallows that were only 75 cents! So we got stuff for s'mores, and some other things. It was by then that we got the paint. It is only a tad bit darker and greener than what we had anticipated, but I like the color.
When we got home, we ate dinner and then got back into our room. We emptied it out a little more and will hopefully start painting the ceiling. I'll let you know tomorrow if that happens.
I forgot to mention that Jade texted me today! She got a new number because her old phone broke while she was at camp. It had been acting funny before, but it just burned out during camp. She got a new phone, and let us know. It was a very nice conversation. She told me that she would have stayed at camp for a whole month if she was give the option. She loved it and wished it were longer. So do I. I miss all the campers, but I really miss all of the instructors.
So long for now!!

Tired

Today was just a tiring day for me. I had a rough night last night, and got up earlier than I should have. Well, actually, I was supposed to be up at 8:30 for the orchestra camp I was supposed to go to, but I wasn't sure when the camp was supposed to start at. I emailed my orchestra teacher last night, and he got back to me at 7:39 this morning. I didn't wake up early enough to see the email and get ready for the camp, so I just decided that we wouldn't go. That, and my mom went to have a massage at that time, and no one else would have been able to take us. We will be going to the camp for the rest of the week, so I will have something to talk about for this week.
At around 12:45, my mom and I left for PT. I was on the bike for 15 minutes, and only went 3 miles. I had decided to give myself a break, but I really wanted to do at least 3 miles. After that, I did my stretch and my exercises that I was given two sessions ago. After that, my PT gave me some new exercises to do. They are meant to strengthen my shoulder blades, as well as improve my posture.
When that was done, we went home and kinda lounged around. At around 5, my amazing friend Noelia called me about the orchestra camp. She put me on speaker phone so that Mica and their mom could listen and join in on the conversation. We compared notes, and we found out that Noelia will not be able to make the morning sessions if they are for all the instruments.
So then we had dinner of spaghetti, and then my brother and I got ready for our tennis lesson. Our mom signed us up for a beginning tennis class so that we could learn how to play. We went to the wrong tennis court, and got to the real place about 15 minutes late. We didn't miss much, but still. It sucks to be late to the first class. We did a lot, and I got pretty good at serving. When that was done, we went home and I lounged around some more.  I am really bored, and I hope this blog won't get too terribly boring.
This is all. So long for now!

Final

Well, sadly, today was the last day of the YWiC camps. It made me very sad. I love all the instructors and Becca especially. She helps our dreams come true, and I can never thank her enough. The instructors were awesome. I know they must have been stressed and that not everything went according to plan or smoothly, but they made the camps so amazing. I love you all!!!!
So the day started with me waking up feeling sad. I didn't know why until I realized that today was the last day. I got ready feeling a little stressed, because Ari and I needed to finish our Alice. It didn't happen, and I think Susi was a little upset. I wanted to finish it, but we were far from being done. I don't think it could have topped the YMCA video we made last camp. Ari and I plan on doing an Alice video (if we have time) of Waka Waka. Ari and I hope to finish it by the time school starts, but it may take longer. We'll give it to Susi and Sofi when we finish. I hope you will like it and that we can actually get it done.
Anyway, we worked on our projects. We had to tweak our app, but it worked out in the end. At about 11:30, they got all of our projects and we practiced presenting. We also saw the video of the murder. I feel really bad for slapping Susi in the video. I accidentally hit her hard, and the slap was loud. I can't act, and that goes for anything. Ari should have been the murderer. I hope Susi doesn't hate me now.... I'M SORRY SUSI!!!
Anywho, after the practices, we went outside to take pictures. It was a little tense, and we knew we needed to hurry up. No one wanted to do a silly picture, so we all jumped.
We went in to go eat lunch, and then presentations started. We started with the camp video, which had a few good pictures of me. I loved it.  The video was awesome. I loved it. After that, we started with the projects. We went in a predetermined order, and with only slight hiccups.
I need to give my electronics to my mom now, but I will finish it tomorrow.
So tomorrow is here, and I will now finish this post.
When we had all presented, we got out certificates of completion and then went to go give the roses to Becca. I held the roses while everyone got a rose, and I got caught on quite a few thorns. We all gave her the roses after Linday had said a few words. We each got a hug, and Becca even cried a little. So after this emotional moment, the camp instructors gave out awards. The first was for Jeopardy. The team Ari and I were on won, and we got these awesome backpacks I have wanted since last year. Here's a picture.
Thank you for them.
After this, the award for the fingerprinting challenge, the inch worm challenge and the murder challenge. They all got pretty cool things. After that was th special awards. Each girl was given an award. Ari got the "Inovative something and I got the "Beautiful Blogger" award. That really surprised me. I just write what happens, but apparently people like it. I hope you enjoy this blog.
Anywho, after this, it was time for the open lab and then time to go. I was really sad saying goodbye to my friends. What made it really sad is that they live at least four hours away. I hope they stay in touch.
It's really sad for me because this is the last year Ari and I wil be campers. We have done this for four years, and I think it is time to move on to camp assistants. That is, if we are accepted. I hope Ari and I can somehow stay involved with YWiC. I want to be able to tell people that I have been involved with YWiC for at least a decade. I want to show people that they can be like that too. I have always enjoyed YWiC and always will. I just hope they enjoy me....
After camp, we went to go eat and then take a nap. We were all tired, but we did have to have a little celebration for my niece Amiyah because it was her birthday. She turned five. That was fun.
That is all I have for now. So long!

Almost There

Today was a little stressful. Mainly because today was the last day we have to work on stuff, and also because Ari and I didn't have as much time because we had to help with the staged murder. I won't tell you what happened, but it took a while and that cut into our project time. Still, I enjoyed helping with it.
So the day began with Ari and I getting to camp while the rest of the girls were eating. I felt really bad because we had forgotten about the breakfast burritos that were ordered for us. Well, technically the one burrito that Ari and I were supposed to share. I wasn't hungry so Ari had to eat it.
When camp actually started, we had an open lab, so I worked on my LilyPad bag. I finished sewing the LilyPad onto the bag, when the YWiC instructors asked Ari and I to help them with the crime scene. I won't give any details, but it was fun and bloody (not real blood), and a little scary because we came up with some gruesome stuff.
When that was done, we went back and I continued to work in my LilyPad. I finished sewing the positives on my components for my bag. We went to lunch and had amazing Lorenzo's pasta. The best part was the bread though. We watched an episode of Dexter for the blood. There was only one inappropriate part that Linday skipped, but the blood was a little much. Susi actually got a little woozy. When we went back in, the girls had to go to the crime scene and figure out what happened. They were to dust for prints, look at the blood spatter, identify the victim(s), the killer(s), and write down what happened. Ari and I went with them and just sat there, not telling them anything. We watched them, which was very facinating. When we finished there, we walked over to Sweet CeCe's for frozen yogurt. Ari and I shared a cup of pomegranate raspberry frozen yogurt. We added some waffle cone bits, some more raspberries, and some cherries. It was awesome. I loved it. We finished ours pretty quickly. While we were in there, some twins came in who were about 5 years old. I didn't see them at first, but Jade pointed them to me. It was very funny how she did. She tapped me in the shoulder and said, " Look. I think those two are of your kind." I laughed a lot when I heard that. We kept looking at them, hoping they would look at us. When we got up to leave, Ari and I started talking about our twin experiences really loudly in the hopes that they would hear and see that we are twins. They did, but Sofia did most of the talking.  We left, and walked back in the heat. When we got back in, Sofi and Jade stole my iPod. They used it to take pictures and time their Alice. I finished my bag, and tried to work on Alice, but I had to do my survey. By that time, our dad was there. We left and went to my Tio's Wife's Brother's Daughter's birthday. Whew. That was long.  Anywho, the brother's name is Tommy, and he is my brother Rene's best friend. They are such great fiends that they had a daughter on the same day, just two years apart. Anywho, we went and then came home. We ate delicious Pizza Hut Pizza, and had to help put some boxes into our shed so we can start to remodel our new room.
So now for the prompt. If I could volunteer anywhere, I'd volunteer at my sister's office. My sister works at the County Extension Office. She is the County Director as well as the County Home Economist. She does programs that help people with diabetes, healthy living, and excercise. Helping her would get me closer to her and would help me learn more about healthy living. I could also help her advertise her programs at school. I do that anyway, but if I volunteer with her, it will count more. Her programs have the potential to make our community better, that is if people would go to them more than just every so often. She promotes healthy habits which can make people's lives better. She can help those with diabetes try to live better lives, and I want to be a part of it. Before I found YWiC, I wanted to do what my sister does. I love helping people and giving them information that can really help them. Volunteering would satisfy that.
Ok. I'm done. I'll leave you with a picture of Ari and I dressed the same for the crime.

Long

Today is a long day....
I woke up today at 6:50 because I had to be at PT at 8. At PT, I was on the bike for 15 minutes at level 4, and I still made it to 3.2 miles, however I was drenched in sweat. It was very tiring, and I was very sore after that. After the bike, I went into the back room and did my exercises. She had me do my side crunches on the ball, so it was easier. My mom thought I was cheating when I did it on the floor because I can't really lift myself up much from the floor.
When PT  was done, I went home to take another shower. This was at about 9:10, and my next doctor's appointment was at 11. We got there pretty early and the appointment only lasted about 15 minutes. We know the secretary, and she showed us a video of her daughter, who is about my age, after she got her wisdom teeth out, and it was pretty funny. I hope I never have to get mine removed, because I would die of embarrassment if she recorded it.
When I got to camp, the girls were working on Alice, so I just went to Ari and started helping her. We have half of our video done, and are working on the rest of it. After Alice, we worked on forensics. We took notes on blood spatter, and did activities on blood stain analysis. It was fun.
After the blood stuff, we had an amazing guest speaker. She went to NMSU and has had an amazing career. She would talk to us and then ask us questions. It was very nice to hear that she makes more than her male counterparts. I hope to be like her in my field. She was really cool, and very kind.
After she finished speaking and giving out stuff, we went to lunch and watched Jurassic Park while we ate. When lunch was over, we had open lab and watched the rest of the movie while we worked. I finished most of my code for LilyPad, and most of the painting. I still need it to get approved by Noor, but for now I will sew on the components with regular thread.
Towards the middle of open lab, our awesome friend Jordan came to visit. She is one of my closest friends, which I met at last year's camp. I haven't seen her in months, and I have missed her dearly. Especially her hugs. I wish she had talked in her Wisconsin accent. I really missed her..
Anywho, we showed her our machine gun, and she had fun shooting it. She gave us a few hugs, smelled us awkwardly, and it felt just like always. Then she had to leave. Sadness...
At around 4:30, we went outside with our superpower papers. We filmed us flipping our cards around and then did the standing up activity. We failed epically at it. Then we went inside and continued with blood spatter.
I'll continue this later.
UPDATE:
Ok. After the blood, we had an open lab. I chose to work on my bag. I feel so far behind because I only just finished painting and my code needs a few more things. At around 6, Ari and I left to go eat dinner. We went to an amazing Chinese restaurant and had amazon food. When we were done, we went back to the science hall with Tangled in case the girls wanted to see that. When we got there, we found out that no one was there. Ari and I were alone in the building for a good 20 minutes, and I will say that I was a little freaked out. When they finally got there, we went into the lab and got settled. Linday was the only one there with us, and I applaud her. Don't read this next part Noor and Susi.

I'll just let you guys know that Linday is my favorite.
I kid of course, but I have known Linday the longest out of all the YWiC people. Anywho, after a while, Linday had us vote on a movie, and after many votes, we picked Pitch Perfect. It was cool until that one girl puked all over the stage. I hate vomit, so this was not good for me. I guess I'll tell you why. When I was in the first grade, I ate a sausage biscuit thing that was pink in the middle. I knew it was not good to eat because my older sister always told me not to eat pink meat. So I go and tell the student teacher, and he tells me to eat it, and that nothing was wrong with it. So of course I eat it, trusting the guy. At lunch, I didn't eat much, and when school got out, I was feeling really crappy. When I got home, I started vomiting every half hour to an hour. It was bad. Most of the time, I wouldn't make it to the trash can, let alone the toilet. After that, it seemed that my stomach got more sensitive. My mom thinks I had some kind of infection that caused me to get sick. From first grade to second, I was constantly vomiting, and none of the doctors could tell me why. Then my mom gave me antibiotics and everything seemed to be alright. Still, that fear of being sick and my fear that I would die still haunts me. I hate feeling nauseated, and anytime I see, hear, smell, of actually vomit, it causes me great anxiety. It really sucked when this four year old threw up on me at my brother's graduation. I couldn't leave, so I had to stay there with vomit all over me and in my hair. So every time the girl threw up in the movie save the first time, Linday would have to tell me "water," which meant for me to leave. They thought I just stepped outside, but I went all the way to the atrium and to the vending machines so I wouldn't hear it. When I saw it, it wasn't too bad because the vomit is fake. Still. Not cool. Oh, and it was awesome hearing Linday sing. She might sing Christine's part in the Phantom of the Opera when she gets really high up there in notes. I hope so.
So. Prompt. I do not make a habit of keeping up with fashion, so I do not know what's in. I do like funny t-shirts as well as sarcastic shirts. I don't really have anything against other fashions except when people wear hardly anything but pay twice as much for it. What's the point?
Ok. I've said enough. So long for now!

Dusty

Today was nice. I got up and felt rested for the first time in forever. When we got to camp, we started on LilyPad. I have most of my bag painted and most of my code done. I am still deciding if  I want to play the whole song or just play part of it, because it is a really long song. And then it goes into three flats for part of it. I don't want to really have to deal with that.
I finished painting most of my bag. Here is a picture.
In case you can't tell, this is the Tangled tower and the trunk of a tree. I still need to paint the leaves and the waterfall, as well as the actual tower.
Lunch was amazing food. We had green and red enchiladas, chicken and beef flautas, rice, beans, and this amazing sauce that made for good nachos.
After lunch, we worked on Alice. Ari and I added our music which is pretty awesome, and we added some more camera movements.
After Alice, we worked on fingerprinting, which is not my favorite. I am getting better at rolling my fingers so that my prints come out nice.
When we were done with that, we had to dust for prints on objects and decide who touched what with which finger.
Now for the prompt!!
In 10 years, I hope to be completing or at least working on my Masters degree for computer programming or computer science at NM Tech. I will be a full time student with a job on the side, and I might be dating, but only if I have time for that. I hope to have a part time job, but who knows.
So long for now!

Early

Today started with me waking up at about 5. I was woken up by Ari because she had to go to a doctors appointment in El Paso that was at 7:30. When she left (without saying goodbye, I might add,) I could not for the life of me get back to sleep. I finally had to go to my own room to get only a half hour of sleep, before I had to wake up again, only to find out I could wake up later! I was very upset, because I only had about 5 hours of sleep. Oh well, I will go to bed early today.
Ari and Mom got back at about 9:10, so they took me to camp. When we got there, we started with Alice. Ari and I learned how to make a title screen, and we made an intro. We worked on our video, but we didn't get too far.
When we finished, we worked on LilyPad. I got my project approved. I will be doing a Tangled bag, with the tower, waterfall, and a tree, with the lanterns in the sky. I will have it play "I See the Light," which I have already started getting the notes for.
Lunch was Asian food, which is personally not my favorite. We had a very interesting conversation with Sofi and Jade about swimming and certain "gifts" Mother Nature has to give women.
After lunch, we continued working on LilyPad. After LilyPad, we did an activity with spoons and Styrofoam balls. The object was to knock other girls' balls off their spoons while keeping our ball on. I was the winner for one round.
I had to leave for physical therapy after that. At physical therapy, I was on the bike and biked 3.2 miles with the bike on a slightly higher level than I was used to. After that, my P.T. had me do my exercises that I was given. When that was done, she gave me some more exercises. Not cool.
Ok. I have to go, but I will update this when I get home.
UPDATE:
Ok.  Therapy finished at 4:30, so I just had enough time to do the survey and the first half of my blog. I found out that our Segway guy will not work because the creators made their own blocks! Oh well. We'll think of something.
Now for the prompt!
My first name is Analyssa. It is of Latin origin and means "graced with God's bounty." This was one of the names my mom liked, but it was not, however, her first choice. My mom originally wanted to name is Anel and Xochitil. I was going to be Xochitil. When we were born, my mom had a vote on what we would be named. Apparently our family didn't like those names and shot them down. I was named Analyssa, and Arianna Arianna. Whenever I think of my name, I think of my sister, Karim, calling me "Analizer" and singing a variation of "Cliff Hanger Hanging from a Cliff" from the show "Between the Lions." I also think of my mom calling me "Ana" because it is just easier.  Anyhow, my middle name is Dianelle. My mom liked the name Diane, but we have a cousin with that name. So instead, she decided to add the "lle" to the end. I always thought it was because she liked the name Diane and Danniel and just combined them. Since my middle name is not really a name, it doesn't have a true meaning. I love my name, and every time I think of my middle name, I think of when I told my middle name to a team member on my softball team. I was sick when I told her, so she thought my middle name was "Ned" and forever called me Ned. It is the only nickname I ever got from a friend and is my favorite. My last name is Martinez. It means the "Son of Martin" and is very common in Latin America. Now for mispronunciations. Very few people will pronounce my name correctly when they first read it. When they first hear it, they think it is just Alyssa. There are so many messed up ways to say my name that I will not tell you them all. I will tell you how my first and middle name so you will impress me when you say my name.
Ah-Nah-Lee-Sah
Dee-Ah-Neh-D
This is how I say it, so take it as you will.
Here are some pictures from Hunger Games.

Hungry

Today started with me freaking out because I forgot to turn off my alarm. The reason I freaked out is because I fell asleep in Ari's room that is soon to be our room, and I forgot to turn off the alarm in my room.
Anyhow, when we got there, Ari and I went to the vending machine and I got pop tarts because I was still hungry.
When camp started, we started on AppInventor. My group worked on our app, but we soon learned that our screens wouldn't work with our variables, so we had to basically start over. But by the time we realized that, we ran out of time.
We went outside and did an activity where Susi would say the number of people in a group and what to do, such as front to front or foot to foot.
When that was done, we started on LilyPad. I have decided to do a Tangled themed bag. I will paint the tower, waterfall, a tree, and Rapunzel's hair coming out of the tower window. I will also have it play "I  See the Light" from Tangled.
Lunch was sandwiches.
When we got back, we did Alice.
When we were done with that, we did NXT. Ari and I did a machine gun. We finished programming it as well.
Now for the prompt!
Ok. My restaurant would be called A Squared. It would be so called because I would hope Ari would be my partner. The restaurant would look like a house, but the inside would consist of a counter where people would be greeted and led to a table. Most of the house would be taken up with tables and booths. At the back would be the bathrooms. Towards the middle on one side would be the kitchen. The restaurant would have earth tones in term of decor and color schemes. Mexican and some generic food would be served. I would want a crew of mainly women to be servers and cooks. The main dishes would be menudo and tamales. We would also have sopapias and biscochos for dessert. One of our "soups of the Day" would be green enchilada soup.
Ok. So long for now!
Oh, and the Hunger Games are tonight!

Favorite

Today was awesome. We had to be here at camp at 10, so we got to wake up later than we did at last camp, and extra sleep is always a plus. When we got there, we went outside to do a Human Knot. We made two circles the first time, but the second time went a little better, albeit longer. After that, we went straight into AppInventor. Sofi and I got another partner, whose name I do not know, and that makes me feel really bad. She is really nice and smart. We got to work on our app. Our app is a Hunger Games tribute personality quiz. We finished all the questions, and started on the programming. We hope we can finish the rest by tomorrow.
After working on our app, we went to lunch. Ari had to leave right after she got her food, so I was lonely. I finished eating in 15 minutes, and we have a 45 minute lunch, so I wasn't used to it. I felt a little bored and didn't know what to do. The instructors loved the extended time, but decided that we would be able to practice Minute to Win it games. Can't wait!
When lunch was over, we started on Alice.  Since I already went through the tutorial, I worked on a little animated short that takes place in the desert. I was even able to make a hog walk! I am very proud of that. I didn't get to finish my short, but I know how to make quadrupeds walk now. Maybe I'll need that for the actual projects.
After Alice, we did NXT. Ari and I did the intro just over a week ago, so we started working on another project. We decided to do a Segway.  We finished building it, but we haven't figured out how to program it to move without falling forwards or backwards.
Ok. Now for the prompt.
Write you 10 favorite things!
  • Fav. Candy-Sour Skittles
  • Fav. Musician-Red Hot Chile Peppers
  • Fav. FLower-Orchids
  • Fav. Restaurant-Wok'n World
  • Fav. Snack-Pringles
  • Fav. Drink-Dr. Pepper
  • Fav. Color-Teal
  • Fav. Book- East by Edith Pattou
  • Fav. Animal-White Tigers
  • Fav. Movie-Anastasia
Oh yeah. I forgot to mention that sometime during the day, we made two pyramids of 6 girls. Our group did well.
So long for now!

Getting Started

Today was the second day of camp. The day started with an activity outside. We all made a circle, and I am surprised at how good these girls are at the task. So much better than the other camper were, sorry to say.
When we got back inside, we started on core concepts. It was very cold, and my hair was still wet, and I didn't think to bring a jacket. Oh well. I learned for tomorrow.
Core concepts too most of the morning. When that was done, we made posters. Ari and my poster was very boring. (Sorry, but I don't know if that is grammatically correct.)
We presented them and voted on the posters. We had to wait a while after that because the food wasn't ready yet. Ari and I talked to Jade and Sofi in the meantime. Then we went to lunch, and it was amazing.
Lunch was a taco platter. We got to make out own tacos, and mine tasted pretty awesome. When lunch was over, we moved the tables and got ready for the jeopardy game. Our team won, but only by one question, really. Still, I felt bad because I knew we had the obvious advantage because Ari and I were on a team, and we had just done the Jeopardy game a few weeks ago. I felt bad for winning, but Ari felt she had to "redeem" herself. I think it's because we lost last camp, so she felt she needed to do well for this one. Oh well. We did.
After that, we walked over to Starbucks. It was very hot,  and there was hardly a breeze. When we got there, Ari and I got strawberry smoothies. When we all got stuff, we headed back. The smoothies helped with the heat, but not much.
When we got back, we launched into AppInventor. We worked on tutorials, and I almost finished my mini golf app. When we finished, we were told to get into groups of two, or pairs to be more precise. Ari and I decided to split up, so I went with Sofi, and Ari went with Jade. I have decided that Ari and I will not work together this week. I don't think Ari knows about this yet. I'll let her find out by reading this blog.
Sofi and I decided to do a Hunger Games personality quiz app. It should be fairly easy to do this once we have our questions and answers.
Now for the prompt!!!
Tell us about your self! Where are you from? What are your thoughts on camp so far?

Ok. I am 15 and will be a sophomore next school year at Centennial High School here in Las Cruces. I have been interested in Computer Science for the past four years. I hope to go to NMSU to pursue a degree in computer science or computer programming. I love the color teal, white tigers, and reading. I have a twin sister who is 11 minutes younger than me, as well as three other siblings who are at least a decade older than me. I really had five parent when I think about it. I was born and raised here in Las Cruces. My thoughts of camp are that it is great and I am having fun. I get to program, so that makes me happy.
So long for now!!

First Day

Well, today was the first day if the residential YWiC camp. Ari and I are attending it, and today was the first day.
We got there at 3, and were soon joined with our friend Sofi. Then the other girls joined us. We did a name game, and Linday got our names wrong. It was quite amusing. She has known us the longest out of everyone there at YWiC. And she still can't get our names right. Not that I'm mad or upset or anything. Some of my family members have given up, ad they've known me for all my life. It's just funny how upset she was. Enough of this.
After the name game, we went on a tour of NMSU. It was a long walk in the heat, but it was fun. When we got to the science hall, we took the surveys and made our name plates. After that was done, the girls headed to The Game. Ari and I didn't go because we were supposed to go somewhere with our brother and niece who came to town. That didn't happen.
When we got back home, our niece Amiyah complained of a stomach ache. She had been complaining since we got to camp we found out, but it got really bad when we got back. She was writhing in pain on the floor, and my mom decided to take her to the doctor. The urgent care was closed, so they took her to the emergency room at the hospital. She's been there for about four hours. They will discharge her soon. The doctors say she has a virus, and to watch her on the trip back to Phoenix. I hope she will be alright. I worry so much. This trip to the hospital has brought back bad memories. Allow me to rant.
When I was in the 5th grade, I got really sick and I had to go this very hospital. My family thought I had appendicitis and took me to the emergency room. When we got there, I had blood tests done as well as a CT scan. I hate this hospital because of the CT scan. While they were getting started for the scan (and by they I mean the nurses), I began to shake violently. I couldn't stop, and the male nurse told me to try. When I couldn't, he told my mom that if I didn't stop shaking, I could die on the table. It scared me. As I look back on this, I realize that it was sort of a threat. He didn't talk to me, but acted as if I wasn't there. And he was scaring me. I didn't want to die, so I stopped shaking. It turned out that the pain was from my ovaries, and that nothing was wrong. This trip is also the reason I am afraid of blood.
After all the tests and results came back negative, I was left in my room. I was lying down with the blanket pulled up all the way. I felt something damp by my left arm. I thought I had just spilt water on myself, but the dampness spread. I told my mom, and she went to pull up the blanket. All I saw was red. Apparently, there was a screw that connected the IV to the tube that led to the bag. And somehow, the screw came undone. The dampness was my blood coming out of the connection. There was a lot of blood, and it spilled over off the bed. We kind of freaked out, and all we had to do was pinch the tube. After seeing my blood leak out of me, I started to feel bad. That feeling went away, but the sight of blood causes me to freak out now. I'm really tired right now, so I'll stop my ranting. So long for now!

Independence

Well, today is the 4th of July, and that means one thing.

FIREWORKS!!!!!

My day was spent watching movies and getting some stuff done. The day was supposed to go one way, but went another instead.
My brother was going to take my dad and older sister to the movies, but the movie wasn't showing today. My mom wanted to see a movie, so we rented it. The guys watched it with us.
Afterward, we cleaned up around the house a little. We even did a little yard work. Around 6 we decided that we would watch another movie. We went to Video 4 to watch Epic. It was pretty epic. And funny. My mom only wanted to see it because of Pitbull.
After the movie, we got hotdogs (and a hamburger for Ari) and went to see the city fireworks show. It was amazing.
My favorite one has to be the smiley face. It was simple, but it was awesome. It made my day.
The Fourth of July is a very special day. Some people forget that. For me, it is a constant reminder. When I hear the fireworks, I think of the shots fired and the lives lost for our freedom. I also think of the people who fight for freedom even today. Two of my cousins are in the army, and we are constantly worried. That is what I think about every fourth. And what I will always think about. Sorry to dampen the mood.
Here's a picture of our new kitten.

Day after

So today is the day after the Fourth of July. As with any holiday, the day after is special in that everything is on sale. Or at least it should be. However, my dad could not find any fireworks for sale. I don't know why or if it was only at the stores he went to, but we did not get any.
Today started off with our new kitten waking me up at 6 in the morning. I usually don't wake up until 9 or 10, so this was very upsetting. I couldn't fall back asleep, so I've had a bad headache since. No pain killers have worked. Oh well.
My day was pretty boring, up until around 5. We had to get ready for a 4-H council meeting. I'm an Ambassador, so I have to be at every council meeting. It only lasted about an hour and a half, which is a short meeting. After the meeting, we went home and prepared for my brother and niece's arrival. They got here earlier than usual. It was nice seeing them before midnight. My bother lives in Phoenix and comes home every few weekends with his daughter. And their dog.
Now for the prompt.
What do I really like about myself?
I really like how loyal I am. I am loyal to friends and family. I will stand by you and be there for you. No matter what. If you need me, I'll be there with you and I will support you in whatever you need. It doesn't matter how long it's been, I'll be there for you. It doesn't matter if you are a close friend or an acquaintance, I will be there to listen and to help. People know that they can always trust me to be there, to listen, and to give advice. I am a confidante to many of my friends and family. If you need me to, I'll keep your secrets. However, if the secret is one that you should not keep a secret, I will tell you so.
Enough of this. I'm ranting.
So long for now!

Soreness

Today I woke up with my left arm being sore, and I don't know why. It's probably because of the way I sleep. Anyhow, I woke up late and was worried that I wouldn't be ready in time for physical therapy.
Therapy today was short but a little tiring.
I biked 3.3 miles in 15 minutes!!!! Yay! That is quite an accomplishment for me, considering I am not all that active or athletic. I was, however, sore after that, hence the title.
After that, the physical therapist looked at my hips, and it turns out that they are even! And that my legs are finally even! So then she gave me some stretches and strength exercises that will help to eliminate the curving of my spine in my upper back. I will be sore by my next appointment.
Currently, my mom is making her amazing enchilada soup. I can't wait for it to be done.
Now for the prompt!
Who is my favorite villain?
My favorite villain would have to be the Joker from the Batman. He is the comic version of Moriarty, which is awesome. Joker is a not so very complicated criminal who is very sadistic. He has lost his morality and only looks for ways to hurt Batman and others. He is one of the only ones who thinks of crimes that will hurt Batman. He wants to defeat him, but they think similarly. He is the nemesis of Batman, which is why he is my favorite. That's all for now. So long!

Seasons

Hello. Today is just weird because of the overcast we had today. It feels like rain, but non has fallen yet. I don't know if that is grammatically correct, but I'm too lazy to find out.
Today seemed like a wasted day because I didn't really do anything. I did get to go to the library. That was fun. One would think that I would frequent the library, considering how close I live to it, but I sadly do not.
Overall, today has been boring. However, I have been given a prompt, so yay! Now I have something to write about.
Ok. Time for the prompt!
Which of the four seasons best suits my personality?
I think fall would have to be the one. Fall happens to be my favorite time of year. Fall reminds me of endings that will lead to new beginnings. I guess that is how I want my life to be. I want the negatives in my life to end, so that the new beginnings can finally have a chance. Fall is also a nice in-between period. It is the buffer between the sweltering summer and the bitter winter. Sometimes that is how I feel. Like I'm going through a phase. Like my life is transitioning from youth into young adulthood. I know it won't get better for a little while. It might even get worse. But I know good times will come, as they always do in the spring. But right now is spent worrying about the coming winter.
So long for now.

Oddness

Today felt off because I didn't have to go to camp today. Why, you ask? Because camp is over! No!!!!
I wish it wasn't, but such is the sad fact of life.
So anyway, onto the events of my life.
Today was my third session with the physical therapist. It was really short today because my hip didn't rotate back too much. I started on the bike for 12 minutes, in which I was able to do 2.2 miles. I am very proud of myself, and am going for three miles next time. So after that, she checked to see how my hips were, and found that my right hip had rotated, but not that much. She hooked me up to the electrode shock machine, and I almost fell asleep. It was nice and relaxing. When therapy was done, my mom took me on a few errands. We went home after I started to feel sick. In case you are wondering, Ari was sick and then she infected me. I felt really bad yesterday, but I hope I get better soon.
I wish I had a writing prompt. You should leave me some in the comments. Nothing too weird, please. That's all for now. If I think of something, I'll blog about it. So long for now!

Last day of Camp

Today, sadly, was the last day of camp. I was very sad, but Ari and I just found out that we are going to the residential camp! We are SO excited for it! It was awesome when Linday found out. Her reaction made me feel so awesome. Anywho, now for a relay of the events of the day.
Today started with me going to physical therapy. Nope. I lied. That day started with my mom and me dropping off Ari at the camp, then going to the physical therapy. I began therapy with the bike, to warm me up. I was on it for ten minutes, and managed to bike a 1.3 miles. This is great because I am not very active and it probably would have taken me longer to bike as much if I had actually ridden a bike. After that, the physical therapist, whom I will call PT, evaluated my pelvis, and she found out that my right hip is rotated, which is probably why my left leg seems longer. So after doing some excercises to try to get the muscles used to a new position, she attached some electrodes to the back of my hips, and put a hot pack on me to relax the muscles. It felt good. And my legs felt even for once.
When that was done, my mom took me to the camp. I got there while the other campers were finishing their projects. Ari had finished our Alice video, and our NXT snake was done, so we went around and tried to help some people with their projects. When we were all done, we went to practice our presentations. It went well.
Lunch was so awesome. We had fettuccine Alfredo from Lorenzo's. I prefer the penne pasta with red sauce, but Lorenzo's is Lorenzo's. Galen, our queen, was not there to join us, so we were kind of lost and quiet. We had Linday sit in her chair to try to make up for Galen's absense. It was really fun, and I learned some new things about Linday.
After lunch, we went to set up and get ready for presentations. We started out presentations and it went well. We started with Alice. I think our project was cool. After Alice came NXT. We showed off our snake, and it was really cool. Here's a picture.
This was an awesome project to make, and really easy to program. After we presented, he instructors gave out awards.
Shockingly, the forensics team I was on won the forensics competition. I thought Galen's team would win. We got our own fake blood and other cool stuff. Ari and I will probably try to create a murder scene with what we got.
I was surprised that I won the "Passionate Programmer" award. Not so much that Ari wine the "Beautiful Blogger" award. After all the awards, I got the Victor's award since I won the Hunger Games that they had. I got this awesome Google Chrome water botte, seen bellow.
So awesome. After all the awards and secret gifts to the instructors and assistants, we went back to the lab for an open lab. When we were getting ready to leave, we took a picture with the instructors, assistants, and the amazing Becca. I'm going to miss Jen so much. She's so awesome. I hope she enjoys Santa Fe. We gave them all hugs, and left. But not for the last time. We will always be back. Can't wait for the next camp!!
Camp is so awesome. Any chance I get, I will go to a YWiC event. They got me into computer science, and I can never thank them enough. I hope to stay involved with YWiC, whether as a participant or maybe an assistant or even an instructor! I love YWiC and all those awesome women there. Thank you. So long for now!

Crunch Time

Today started off with Jen complimenting my hair today, which made me very happy. I like having my hair in braids, but it takes too long for me to do it, so my mom usually has to do it for me. I also like my hair in braids because it makes me look and feel more native.
So when we got in, we found the camp directors messing around and acting much younger than they are. It was really funny when they started to draw out the "Circle of Life." When 9 came around, we went outside and practiced "hand to hand combat" with spoons and Styrofoam balls. The goal was to get the other person's ball knocked off, and the winner was the last person to have their ball on the spoon. I managed to win one of the games in the afternoon. I tried teaching Linday how to hold the spoon, but then I would knock her ball off her spoon. It was funny. We came back in and worked on Alice. Ari and I got pretty far, but we are not done yet.
Lunch was amazing pizza. We also had garlic bread and nightlock berries. They were delicious. Today's conversation at our table was awesomely funny and a little awkward. Overall, lunch was very entertaining.
Afterwards, we had an open lab while we watched the Hunger Games. Ari and I worked on Alice because we finished our rattle snake.
I loved watching the Hunger Games, but it made me a little upset. I wasn't upset at the movie itself, but at Jennifer Lawrence. I don't have anything against her, but it just reminds me of when she came to Las Cruces to film the Burning Plane.
They filmed part of that movie here in Las Cruces, and a good portion was filmed across the street from my older sister's house. They used my sister's house to hold part some of the equipment as well as a daycare for the child actors. When they finished the movie, they went to my sister's house and shot pictures of the cast that was there inside my sister's house while we were there. I wish I had proof, but I can't find any of the pictures. Still. Jennifer Lawrence was within 6 feet of us!!! I wish I had gotten a signature from her. Sigh.... Oh well. Enough ranting. Back to the day.
Now for the prompt!
Computers are very important to everyday life. Imagine life without computers. You would have to make coffee on your own. You wouldn't be able to text anyone. You might not even be able to call someone. And what about music? Computers are needed to run and or create most of the tings you need in order to survive.

Tired and Sore...

I woke up today not really wanting to get up and get going. If you want to find out, keep reading. If not, skip to the next paragraph. So for you who want to find out, I'll tell you. Yesterday was the Hunger Games, and there was a lot of running going on. It started off with a feast of sandwiches and interesting cookies. After we ate, we went outside to "train." The alliance I formed with Ari, Sofi, Rosa, and I, focused mainly on aim. When training was done, we went back inside for the rules and to find out what district we were in. I was in district 3, and we found out what constituted a wound, how many "lives" we had, and when we could run to the "cornucopia."  We then headed outside for the games. Our alliance formed a plan, and that plan worked out. Abby joined our ranks, and we started "ganging up" on people. Sadly, Sofi was the first to die. She sponsored Ari, and we tried to stay alive. Rosa was next, and then Ari. By that time, only about 8 people were still in it, though I don't recall who. Abby was killed, and It came down to Irma, Noor's little brother, and me. Irma was killed and that left Noor's little bro and me. I felt really bad about the situation, but he wasn't going down without a fight. I managed to kill him with two hits to the legs. I wasn't all that happy to win, though. And it seemed like the others weren't either. We went inside for awards, and the running started to catch up with me. I felt so crappy, and I had to lie down for about an hour and a half when I got home before I could walk without too much pain. I didn't sleep all that well, so it was really hard to drag myself out of bed.
Today, we started out with an activity, which was to try to get all members to stand up from a sitting position while our arms are linked. We came back inside to work on NXT. We finished our gymnast, and started our rattle snake. We finished the bot as well as the program. Then it was time for lunch, which was very entertaining.
When we came back , we started on Alice. Susi led us through another project, and then set us free to work on our own projects.
Now time for the Prompt!!!
List at least 10 things that make you happy.
1. YWiC
2. Programming
3. Biscochos
4. Orchestra
5. Reading
6. Hanging out with friends
7. People telling me they care about me
8. Eating my mom's food
9. Watching The Big Bang Theory
10. Bonding with all my siblings
11. (I have to include this because 11 is my family number) Having an awesome Twin sister. I know this should be first, but I am way too lazy right now to move it up to the top of the list.

NXT Robotics!!!!

Today started out like normal, which was a little odd. Today, Ari and I decided to come to camp dressed alike to see how people would react. It was the perfect day to do so, because today's activity was a name learning game. We had to say our name and motion what we like to do. The poor girls had a hard time with Ari and I, and it didn't help that we stood right next to each other. It was really fun for us. When we were going back, Linday asked us about why we came like twins today. We told her that we wanted to and that it worked out. I love dressing the same at school, and then switching classes. We like to do it at the beginning of the school year, because most people (teachers) do not know us enough yet. It's really funny when people who have known us for a while *cough**cough* get us confused as to which one we are.
After this, we worked on Alice. Ari and I have some of our video done, but we still have a lot to finish.
Lunch was awesome Mexican food, but for me, it was just food. Anywho, we ate while listening to Disney songs.
After lunch, we went to solve a crime. Specifically, a murder in CS. We had to find out who was killed, how was the killer, and what happened. We had a hard time with this, but we did come up with a scenario. I'm on a time crunch, so I can't tell you.
Afterwards, we worked on NXT robotics, my favorite part of the day. I've been doing NXT for the past 3 years, so this was very easy for me.  We did well, and I think we got the farthest on the gymnast.
Thankfully, we don't have a prompt, so I will leave you for now.

Late Start

Today was an unusual day that will soon become the norm. In case you are wondering, this morning I went to a physical therapist because of the VERY mild scoliosis I have. Since it was the first appointment, the physical therapist evaluated me. The physical therapist was the same one who worked on my sister to try to get her wrist to rotate normally. It was nice to know that she remembered us. I told her that, according to a person from another spine place, my left leg is shorter that the right. She told me that, to her, it seemed that my right leg was shorter. I don't know what it is, but this is very confusing. She told me how the course of treatment would be, and I was scheduled for the next 2 months. I hope this will help prevent any further curvature, as well as any form of surgery.
So after this, I went to camp. I was about an hour late, hence the title. I got here at the start of Alice, so I wasn't too behind. We made a Nemo short animation and mine turned out pretty good, if I do say so myself, and I do. When we were done with it, we broke into teams and started brainstorming ideas for the project we will do for this camp. Of course, my partner was Ari. We are very bad at being creative, so it took us a while. We finally decided to make a YMCA animation, where the viewer has to click on the Y, M, C, and A keys so that the dancers do the moves. I hope we can finish it this in time.
Lunch was delicious sandwiches. I ate two, and they were amazing. When Ari and I were done, we practiced "Catch the Rainbow," or as I call it, "Taste the Rainbow." I'm getting pretty good, so you better be prepared to wear a Bing shirt, Tasha. Even if the Google ninjas come to get you.
After lunch, we went outside for a challenge. We broke into two teams, and we had to figure out a way to get all of the team members onto a blanket. My team was able to get everyone off the ground with only about a foot by foot piece of blanket. Our "leader," Galen, figured out a loop whole. She had us all link arms, while she stood on the blanket, and those not on the blanket all jumped up at the same time. It was awesome.
We came in and learned about blood spatter. It was interesting. After we learned that, we got back to Alice. Ari and I managed to program the "Y" move.
Now for the prompt.
What quality or talent  is most likely to make me famous one day?
Since I am allowed to brag, I will.
I think that my programming skills will most likely make me famous. Paired with my good conscious, people would love me (I flatter myself). I hope I become famous. But that it won't get to my head. So long for now.

Fear No Mas!!

Today started off well, with me wearing my Batgirl shirt with the velcro cape. We started off with another challenge. Today was trying to make different letters with our bodies. It was very easy, contrary to what the camp assistants thought. We came in and started working on fingerprinting. I hate fingerprinting because I am very bad at it. I did better this time, so that was good. My Primary Classification number was 23/27. I am so glad I brought a ton of sanitizer wipes, because they really came in handy with the ink. After we cleaned up, we started working on LilyPad. I completely finished my program as well as sewing the components on with conductive thread. I am very happy with the way my bag came out. I wish I had a picture to show you.
We had amazing pizza for lunch today. We also had assorted Harry Potter themed snacks. They were delicious.  After lunch, we had an open lab, and Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets was playing on the white boards while we worked. Since I finished my LilyPad, I spent the whole time working on the app. I was able to work some things out with some help, but I'll need to work on it after camp.
Time for today's super important prompt!!!
What would I do if I wasn't afraid?
I have given this a lot of thought, and I would stop being afraid to tell a boy that they are wrong when it comes to programming and life in general. I hate staying silent, but society has this stigma that women should be silent. I would try to do things that are predominantly male so that I can be and example for other girls.
Since this is my blog, I feel that I can vent.
At school there is this annoying boy who has it all wrong about all-girl activities. He thinks it's sexist when there are things for only girls, and doesn't mind voicing that opinion. I have tried explaining it to him, but I can't be around him for too long before I feel like ripping his head off. I tried telling him that all-girl camps are not meant to exclude boys, but to get rid of the negative influence they have on girls, as well as to boost the girls' confidence. I believe that guys exclude girls because they do not feel that girls belong. All-girl clubs, camps, activities, etc. are just to give the girls the courage to do thinks previously thought to be "taboo." It certainly help me. I hope it helps many more girls step out of their shells.

Half-Way Done

Well, today is kinda sad, because the first half of this first week of camp is already over. Along with that realization comes the thought of all that needs to be done by Friday. Oh well, best not to think about that now.
Anywho, today started off weird, because Ari had a doctors appointment today and was gone for most of the camp. It was weird not seeing her this morning. You would think I would be used to it considering we had almost completely different schedules last year.
Camp started with a (failed) challenge of keeping a beach ball in the air for 100 hits, with each of us campers hitting it at least 5 times.
We only made it to 16.
We cam back in and launched straight into LilyPad. I finished my programming and painting my white tiger. I was very proud of myself. Now I just need to sew the components on.
Lunch was Asian food. I felt alone without Ari. I know I have others I can talk to, but my other half is very important to me.
When we got back, we started with App Inventor. We got into groups, and our team name was AAA. I was very tempted to add "batteries" to the end, but I don't know how my teammates would have liked that. We decided to do a Hangman app, and we almost have all the design done, but coding is far from done. we'll have to work on it tonight, but Ari and I will be busy until about 8, so there will be little time. I hope I can finish my bag by the time we have open lab so that I can work with Allison on the app.
Now for today's prompt: Which character from a book would you most like to meet and why? What would you do with them?
Of all the characters from the books I have read, I would love to meet Annabeth Chase from the Percy Jackson and the Lost Heroes series by Rich Riordan. I would love to meet her because she is a daughter of Athena, which means she is very smart. I would love to go sightseeing with her in Rome or Greece so that she can tell me all about the architecture and the myths. She wants to be an architect, so it wouldn't be too hard to convince her. It's always nice to be around girls my age who are intelligent and are not afraid to be. Well, so long for now.

Rawr!!!

Well, today was eventful. We started off by doing a human knot, and it was very awkward. We got to know some of the campers a little too well. On our first attempt, we managed to create two different circles. And if that wasn't enough, we had to do it again! You can imagine my frustration. It took us quite a while before we even were able to move around. To make matters worse, we had formed four different circles! It was all very interesting and fun, but frustrating as well.  Regardless, it gave us some fresh air.
When we got back inside, we learned about LilyPad. I'm no beginner, but I still find the sewing hard. I have finally mastered the art of tying knots, a skill that has long evaded me. Then it was lunch.
Lunch was delicious, but we ended up getting locked up, which wasn't all that bad. Ari and I practiced on our throwing and catching for "Catch the Rainbow," a game we are pretty good at, not to toot my own horn. I hope to someday be better than Tasha. If that happens, I'm going to make her wear a Bing shirt for a whole day. Ahhh, daydreams.
When we got back inside of the cave, (creative but accurate name for the room the camp is in) we started on App Inventor. It was easy, as I have done it before. I almost finished my mini golf app tutorial, but then we had to work on LilyPad. I've started working on my tiger bag, hence the title, and it isn't a total mess. I suck at drawing though, so that may not be the case for long.
Now it's time for the prompt!!!!! Yay! (Can you hear the sarcasm?)
The prompt for the day: Write a run-on sentence about what we have to do this week.
I have to go home and try to clean out my older sister's old room so that we can paint it and put wood flooring down so that we can put the furniture and stuff back in so that Ari and I can move into the room so that my room that I am in will become the computer room, and that I have to do chores and do my summer reading as well as hope and pray that Ari's arm can be fixed and then work on my LilyPad project so that I'll be ahead, and then work on App Inventor, and on Friday my brother will take us to see Monster University and then we'll go get something to eat, depending on when we see the movie, and then go to sleep (not at the end of the week, but I'll probably need it the most by then.)
So long for now!

YWiC HS Camp 1- Day 1

Today was the first day of the first camp for high schoolers this summer. I'm so excited!!! I love these camps, and this first day was amazing. We started with an orientation, and then went outside for an ice-breaker. Then, we went straight into learning the core concepts.  After doing the revue sheets and posters, we headed to lunch of sandwiches. We came back and played Jeopardy. It was fun, but my team did not win, sadly. Next was my favorite part, LilyPad. I love this program. Now it's time for the blog.
Today's prompt: Describe one time you were brave.
This is a very hard thing to describe, because I am not very brave. I do have one example, though it is not much.
The only time I can think of being slightly brave is when I had to help Arianna when she fell while ice skating in Albuquerque and had to get stitches. I was brave in that I did not freak out when I saw the blood, given that I have a fear of blood. It is so bad that I almost threw up as well as pass out the last time I had blood drawn. Anyway, I also had to comfort Ari when they actually had to put the stitches in her head. I was afraid, but I could tell she was in a lot of pain, and that caused me immense pain, so I decided the rub her back. I wanted to make the situation not as bad as it was, and I hoped I succeeded. That's all I have for now. Can't wait for tomorrow!!
